Crochet Hat - $20

Saturday, January 21st, 12-3p

Have you seen the messy-bun hats that are everywhere right now?  You can make your own in this class!  After making a simple strip of ribbing for homework, students will learn how to pick up stitches along the edge to crochet the body of the hat in the round.  Simple decreases are used to shape the crown of the hat, which you can choose to either close all the way for a traditional hat or leave open.

Prerequisites: Beginning Crochet Class or beginner crochet skills (basic stitch knowledge, ability to work in rows)

Homework: Hat ribbing; students should be ready to work in the round

Supplies:

  • 100g worsted-weight yarn (we used Noro Silk Garden)
  • US G crochet hook
  • Locking stitch marker
  • Yarn needle (chibi)

Skills Learned:

  • Picking up stitches
  • Crocheting in the round
