DeSoto Tunic - $25

Saturday, July 8th, 10a-1p

Crochet is everywhere right now! We've been super inspired by the open crochet tops and accessories that we've been spotting in stores, so we decided to make our own! This simple summer tunic can serve double-duty as a cute layer over leggings or a swim cover-up at the beach. The pattern only uses basic crochet stitches and no shaping, so even beginners can make themselves a summer garment. We will be walking through how to adjust the pattern to fit you and working the first repeat of the chart in class so you can go home with all the skills to complete your project!

Prerequisites: Advanced-beginning crochet skills or Beginning Crochet class; students should be comfortable with basic stitches

Homework: Students should swatch so that they achieve a gauge of 14 stitches & 7 rows of double crochet = 4"; students should also arrive with a base chain of 86 completed

Supplies:

  • Elsebeth Lavold Silky Wool or other DK-weight yarn (we used approx. 950 yds)
  • US #I crochet hook
  • Locking stitch markers
  • Chibi (darning needle)
  • Row counter or other tool to keep track of rows

Skills Learned:

  • Crochet chart reading
  • Mattress stitch seaming
