Garden of Jewels Shawl - $30

Saturdays, July 9th & August 20th; 2-4p

Looking for something lightweight to keep you knitting through the warmer weather?  The Garden of Jewels shawl is the perfect project.  In this class, students will work a gorgeous flowering lace pattern that features beading throughout.  In class, students will learn how to read a lace pattern from a chart, how to place beads as you knit, and general lace knitting tips and tricks.  You'll need just 100g of lace weight yarn, and we have plenty of luxurious options to choose from!

Prerequisites: Intermediate knitting skills, including being comfortable with standard increases/decreases

Homework: None

Supplies:

  • 100g lace-weight yarn (we suggest Juniper Moon Findley, Sweet Georgia CashSilk Lace, or Dream in Color Jilly Lace)
  • US #3 40" circular knitting needle, lace tip recommended
  • Garden of Jewels pattern by Po Lena (download here before class)
  • #06 seed beads; we do not currently carry beads, but recommend that you check out the following local bead stores for a great selection: Planet Bead in downtown Milwaukee, Eclectica in Brookfield, & Funky Hannah's in downtown Racine
  • Small metal crochet hook for placing beads
  • Stitch markers
  • General knitting notions
