Special Snowflake Hat - $15

Have you been dying to try your hand at stranded colorwork?  This is a great class to get you started!  The pattern takes a simple hat pattern and adds a variety of traditional snowflake motifs!  Students will be provided with several different snowflake charts so they can customize their hat design!  The loftiness of Rauma Vamsegarn makes learning stranded colorwork easy.  Pick out your 2 favorite colors and get ready to be addicted to colorwork!

Prerequisites: Basic knitting skills, including some experience with double-point needles OR Beginning Hat class

Homework:

  • Students should knit to the point of starting the charted rows before class

Supplies:

  • Aran weight yarn in 2 contrasting colors, 1 skein each (we used Rauma Vamsegarn)
  • US #6 16" circular needles
  • US #7 16" circulars needles
  • US #7 double-pointed needles
  • Stitch markers
  • Yarn needle (Chibi)
  • Highlighter tape (recommended) or another way to track your chart rows

  • Basics of stranded color knitting, including how to maintain proper tension and different methods for managing yarns
  • Reading a colorwork chart
